Byron Bay hostel, two streets from the beach
Guests settling in at Saltbush
The people behind Saltbush Hostel
We run a friendly backpacker hostel with dorms, private rooms and a shared kitchen, for travellers who want a bed, a few new mates and an easy walk to the sand.
Why we're here
Built for travellers, not tourists
Byron Bay pulls people in from everywhere. We give them somewhere easy to land.
Saltbush Hostel sits two streets back from Byron Bay beach, close enough to walk down in bare feet. We built it for backpackers who want a bed that's comfortable, a kitchen that works, and people around who are up for the same adventure.
Every dorm bed gets its own curtain, light and power point, because privacy still matters when you're sharing a room with five strangers who become mates by breakfast.
What we get right
Small things we don't skip
The details that make a shared hostel feel like your own space.
Your own space in the dorm
Every dorm bed has its own curtain, light and power point, so you get privacy even in a six-bed room.
Two streets from the beach
Saltbush sits two streets back from Byron Bay beach, an easy walk down for a swim before breakfast.
A kitchen that works
Cook your own meals and share the table in our shared kitchen, open to every guest, every day.
Beds for solo travellers and groups
Choose a six-bed dorm, a four-bed female dorm or a private double, whatever your trip calls for.
